This is the story about dedication, hard work and gratitude.
Maria was born in Malawi and came to South Africa in 2009. She is not only a super performer, where her hard work and dedication has made her our top Malawian agent, but she is a wife and mother of three wonderful children! Who ever said you can’t have it all, Maria certainly shows us that anything is possible.
Maria initially worked as a domestic worker and sold food at informal markets in taxi ranks. She joined the Hellopaisa family in 2015 and having spent some time with her, one can see why she does so well in her chosen career. Maria’s gigantic smile is infectious and her love and passion for what she does is inspiring. Her average day starts at 4:00AM when she gets her family ready for their day before setting off to meet with her customers. At any given time one of Maria’s three cell phones will ring and she greets each customer with a joyful smile. She will stop at nothing to ensure that they are assisted and taken care of. In her words “My customers are the most important people to me, and I must look after them”.
Maria’s impeccable reputation and consistently impressive sales figures made her stand out, so we invited her to come and share some insights with us on what makes her so successful? Her passion for her work and customers, a great can-do attitude and unwavering broad smile are the major factors in why she has become a force to be reckoned with.
And it was due to this fact that we decided to give Maria a very special gift to thank her for all her hard work and dedication. Hellopaisa was going to fulfil her dream and build a house in Malawi for her and her family as part of the “Building dreams together campaign”, as she was always sending money home for this exact purpose. It was a proud Hellopaisa moment.
In the last month, Maria’s home was finally completed, and we flew her over to her family and brand new home in Nkhata, Malawi. The joy of seeing her completed home couldn’t be described in words. This is why Hellopaisa exist, not just to change the lives of our customers, but our employees too.
